new office building
The building filled a long-standing urban gap from the time of the construction of the A metro line and thus consolidated and completed the northwestern end of Wenceslas Square. A commercial parterre was a matter of course in this exposed position of the city, which in this case occupied 5 floors (two of which were underground). It was only with the Euro that the real counterbalance of the Koruna came.
The transparent glass shell, modulated in plan into a curve shaped in an "aerodynamic" manner, immaterially defines the volume of the corner — its subtlety is made possible by the use of a double glass facade with a ventilated air gap. In the second plan, a contrasting cubic austere mass appears in the corner, formed by a layer of adjustable gold-colored curtains that regulate the light comfort of the interior. In the most exposed part of the house, the inner cube breaks through the calm horizontal mass and gives rise to the tower's dominant feature — a height response to the opposite corner with the Koruna Palace. Behind the light shell of the glass envelope, which calms the overall effect of the building, the mass of the administrative part is taken where the connections to neighboring buildings require it.
